Pfizer Returns to AAEP Convention for Four Days of CE

Pfizer Animal Health returns to the 57th Annual Convention of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) in San Antonio, Texas, November 18-22, to support continuing education (CE) for the organization's veterinarian and student members. In addition to Pfizer Animal Health's Educational Partnership, the company sponsors the AAEP Foundation Celebration, Good Works for Horses Campaign, Equine Memorial Matching Challenge, and various table topics during the convention. All of the details for the convention are available on attendees' mobile devices thanks to the AAEP's mobile application, sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health.

Veterinarians can visit the Pfizer Animal Health booth #5059 during the AAEP Trade Show to learn more about Pfizer Animal Health's Equine Wellness Management Service: Vetstreet Equine with CONNEQT Wellness Management. This new service is designed to optimize the health and well being of horses and increase compliance and loyalty to veterinary practices.

Renowned artist Doug Prather will again be on hand to sign his commemorative equine print for convention attendees during scheduled times.

Other activities include "VETpardy," an equine trivia question game with branded prizes and informational presentations on product offerings.

"As a company we have always strived to provide veterinarians with the best resources to help make their professional lives easier, from innovative health care products to hands-on wet labs demonstrating new techniques or procedures," said Stuart Meikle, marketing director for Pfizer Animal Health. "We are privileged to work with AAEP to support equine veterinarians with activities and promotions that help them gain new skills, promote their practice and learn more about our products."

Pfizer Animal Health sponsored a new program with the AAEP this year known as "Good Works for Horses," which recognizes veterinarians who have embodied the spirit of service to the horse such as volunteering services at rescue centers or therapy facilities, supporting an equine-related benevolent program, or any other acts that demonstrate giving back to the horse. Nominees were chosen monthly throughout the year and will be considered for the 2011 Good Works Award. This award will be presented during the AAEP Foundation Celebration, along with $1,000 of Pfizer Animal Health vaccines to be used in the veterinarian's charity work.

Available on the iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry Curve platforms, the AAEP's convention app allows attendees to view the educational program, maps of the convention center, exhibitor information, flag sessions or exhibitors for reminders, and other features. The app is available for download by visiting the respective app market and searching for "AAEP."

A longtime Educational Partner, Pfizer Animal Health works with the AAEP and other regional organizations to offer wet labs, seminars, scholarships, and continuing education programs to equine veterinarians. The company also sponsors the AAEP Student Chapter Short Courses in dentistry to help veterinary students gain experience in equine dentistry.

Pfizer Animal Health looks to support the equine veterinary industry through training and education, research and development and programs that promote the health and wellbeing of horses. Currently, Pfizer Animal Health is spearheading a company-wide Commitment to Veterinarians initiative that focuses on supporting the veterinary and animal health industry through training and education, research and development, investing in the future of the profession, and philanthropy.
