The Race For Education, a Lexington, Ky.-based nonprofit organization, was recognized by The White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI), along with the President’s Council on Financial Literacy, among a small group of “innovative and effective programs and partnerships that promote financial literacy among Americans of all ages.”

Elisabeth Jensen, executive vice president of The Race For Education, was asked to represent the organization at the Compassion in Action Roundtable held June 18 at The White House. “In additional to being invited to participate in the event, I was honored that our work with young people was recognized alongside national organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Junior Achievement,” Jensen said after returning from the event.

The organizations invited to attend the roundtable were recognized by the OFBCI for “providing education on financial literacy that equips individuals with the tools they need to avoid the pitfalls of consumer debt, predatory lending and other traps, while succeeding in areas such as home ownership, budgeting, and credit repair.”

The Race For Education requires all its scholarship recipients to complete an online financial literacy course designed specifically for college-age students, www.financialliteracy101.org
