The Horse is proud to introduce its newest editorial advisory board member. Douglas Corey, DVM, joined the extensive board that helps ensure that the contents of this magazine are accurate and beneficial to our readers. Corey is an equine practitioner in a four-person mixed animal practice in Adams, Ore. He received his BA from Whitman College and earned his DVM from Colorado State University.


Corey has served in various positions for a number of associations, including: board of directors and president of the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association, chairman and member of the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board, advisory committee member to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) on animal welfare, past president of the Columbia River Pro Rodeo Circuit, and member of the board of overseers at Whitman College. He has also served on several committees for the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP).


Corey has been instrumental in developing the Animal Welfare Council and in the PRCA’s position on animal welfare. He has also helped develop the award-winning AAEP “On Call” veterinary media response program. He currently serves on the AVMA Animal Welfare Committee and the American Horse Council Welfare Committee
