Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital and the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation will host an educational seminar at the Kentucky Horse Park (KHP) in Lexington on April 28 during the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event. The seminar is scheduled to commence following the day’s dressage competition, from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. in the South Theater located in the KHP Visitor’s Center. The program offers information on the latest veterinary technology specifically pertaining to competing the sport horse. Rood & Riddle is pleased to have David Pugh, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACT, ACVN, of Fort Dodge Animal Health (FDAH), as its guest speaker, along with Rood & Riddle veterinarians, Brett Woodie, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS, Chris Newton, DVM, and Kathleen Paasch, DVM.

The presentations and speakers are as follows:
Upper Airway Disease and the Equine Athlete–Woodie was actively involved in research of the equine upper respiratory tract while on staff at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Now one of five surgeons at Rood and Riddle, Woodie concentrates on soft tissue surgery with emphasis on the upper respiratory tract.

Vaccinating Your Sport Horse–Newton is a Lexington native who grew up competing eventers. Newton is a primary and preventative care practitioner at Rood & Riddle with a large part of his practice devoted to equine sports medicine, physical therapy, and alternative medicine.

Acupuncture and the Performance Horse–Following her internship at Rood & Riddle, Paasch has worked as an assistant to renowned orthopedic surgeon Larry Bramlage, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS. She received her acupuncture training through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and concentrates her practice on lameness and orthopedics
