Equine surgeon Larry Bramlage, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVS, will be on hand to provide timely health reports to the media regarding the athletes in Friday's Kentucky Oaks and Saturday's Kentucky Derby races.

Bramlage is an internationally recognized equine orthopedic surgeon and a partner at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky. He is a 1975 graduate of the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and he received a Master of Science degree from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine; his master’s thesis was on the study of bone grafts and bone plating. Bramlage has served as an AAEP On Call veterinarian since 1993 and covers such major events as the Triple Crown races and the Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. He focuses his veterinary career on racehorse care.

The On Call program serves all nationally televised equestrian events. More than 25 AAEP-member veterinarians in the United States and Canada share their veterinary expertise as On Call spokespersons. The program received the 2008 Special Eclipse Award for its contributions to Thoroughbred racing.
