Investigation into Georgia Horse Shootings Launched

A Tennessee Walking Horse sustained five gunshot wounds and a Quarter Horse sustained one gun shot wound.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Department is seeking whoever fatally shot one horse and wounded another in Lula, Ga., last month.

Hall County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said that the Tennessee Walking Horse and Quarter Horse were discovered on March 29 when the owner’s family member arrived at the Lula farm to check on the animals.

"The Walking Horse was found lying dead in its pasture," Wilbanks said. "The Quarter Horse was found later."

The Walking Horse had sustained five gunshot wounds. The Quarter Horse had sustained a single gunshot wound to the neck, and is currently under veterinary care, Wilbanks said
