Law enforcement authorities in Wellfleet, Mass., are seeking whoever is responsible for cutting hair from the tails of two Tennessee Walking Horses residing in a corral in that Cape Cod town.

Wellfleet Police Officer Geraldine LaPense said that the horses’ caretaker notified police after noticing hair had been cut from the animals’ tails.

"The tails were not completely cut off, but there were sections of the tails missing," LaPense said.

Law enforcement authorities speculate that the hair might be sought for use in making jewelry, she said
