A New York Morgan horse trainer already facing multiple animal cruelty charges was arraigned this week on yet another charge connected to a horse that was euthanized on her East Aurora farm in November 2009.

Last March officials from the SPCA Serving Erie County removed 73 horses and numerous dogs and cats from the property owned by farm operator Beth Hoskins. Erie District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III later charged Hoskins with 10 counts of animal cruelty for the alleged maltreatment of seven horses and three cats. On July 12 Hoskins was charged with another 114 cruelty counts for the alleged maltreatment of 73 horses and 41 cats. Additional charges were later filed involving the alleged maltreatment of 10 more cats. Hoskins pleaded not guilty to all those charges.

On Aug. 18 Hoskins was arraigned on another cruelty charge connected to a horse euthanized at her farm on Nov. 26, 2009, said G. Michael Drmacich, chief of the district attorney's Justice Court Bureau. Hoskins now faces 125 cruelty counts for the alleged maltreatment of 74 horses and 51 cats, Drmacich said.

The horse's death came to light recently through a deposition provided by Katherine Fitzgerald, DVM, of Springville Veterinary Services PC, in Aurora, N.Y., the veterinarian who euthanized the animal, Drmacich said
