Derby Hopeful Endorsement Out with Leg Fracture

WinStar Farm’s Endorsement has a non-displaced right front condylar fracture and will not be entered for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands.

According to Dr. Bo Landry, who radiographed Endorsement following his work, arrangements are currently being made to ship the colt out for surgery. He is expected to be out three to six months.

According to Dr. Bo Landry, who radiographed Endorsement following his work, arrangements are currently being made to ship the colt out for surgery. He is expected to be out three to six months.

"We're making arrangements right now to get someone to do surgery on him," said Landry. "When the surgeon goes in there and takes a look at the joint, he'll be able to give a better prognosis."

Endorsement, trained by Shannon Ritter, worked this morning at Churchill Downs, getting a half-mile in :47 2/5. With Ritter aboard for the work, the son of Distorted Humor went in :12 2/5, :24, :35 3/5, and galloped out five furlongs in 1:00, 1:13 3/5, and 1:29
