Oklahoma City will once again play host to the National Appaloosa Show and World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show from June 26 to July 8, 2006. Competitors of all ages from around the country will come together to challenge themselves and their Appaloosa horses as they compete for cash prizes and prestigious awards. This year marks the 59th year for the National Appaloosa Show, and the 14th consecutive year the show has been held at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City.

The World Championship Appaloosa Youth Show will begin on Sunday, June 25, with the annual Year-End Youth Awards Banquet, where Appaloosa Youth Association (AYA) members will be honored for their achievements in 2005. Classes at the Youth Show will begin on Monday, June 26, and run through Saturday, July 1. Contests are held throughout the week, including a stall decorating contest, dummy roping contest, and speech contest. AYA members will compete for U.S. Savings Bonds and fun prizes. Special events at the Youth Show include an ice cream social to start off the week and a team tournament parade and youth exhibitors’ party on Saturday.

The National Appaloosa Show begins on Thursday, June 29, and runs through Saturday, July 8. This year seven new classes have been added to the lineup at the National Show, including four Masters (50 & over) Non-Pro classes and three Non-Pro Hunter-In-Hand classes. Admission to both the Youth and National Show is always free, and there is ample free parking available. The Non-Pro & Open Year-End Awards Banquet will take place at 6 PM on Sunday, July 2, at the Biltmore Hotel.

The show will also host two Chris Cox clinics on June 3 and the Best of the West Gift Expo from June 26 to July 7 (reduced hours on July 1 and 8).
