The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) Board of Directors has announced an annual $1,000 scholarship program for five undergraduate students working toward a career in the equine industry who are also attending colleges or universities in the state.

The KEEP Scholarship will be awarded to a legal Kentucky resident, who is a current full-time student with junior or senior undergraduate status at a Kentucky University/College and has declared their major in an equine bachelor’s degree program. The student must have a 2.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale and be a current KEEP member.

The purpose of the KEEP Scholarship Program is to provide scholarships to students pursuing a career in the horse industry who demonstrate financial need, academic success, a commitment to Kentucky’s Horse Industry, hard work, and determination. The deadline for this year’s scholarship is June 15. All five scholarship winners will be awarded before the start of the fall 2006 semester. A committee of the KEEP Board of Directors, chaired by Dan Kenny, a Lexington bloodstock agent, will select the winners. The scholarship application and requirements can be found on KEEP’s web site at www.horseswork.com.

KEEP was formed in May 2004 to promote and protect Kentucky’s horse industry. For more information on KEEP visit www.horseswork.com
