A Maryland man is in custody after being accused of fatally shooting his own Miniature Horse because the animal was eating strawberries in a neighbor’s yard.

A complaint provided by the Maryland State Police indicated that on May 2 troopers responded to a call regarding a pet Miniature Horse that had wandered onto a neighboring property in Westover and was eating strawberries growing there. The complaint states that the owners of the neighboring property shooed the horse back to his own backyard where his owner, John Nelson Price, allegedly shot and killed the animal.

“As soon as the horse enters the yard he is shot,” the complaint said.

Price allegedly went back inside his residence immediately after the shooting
