My horses are kept in two locations: beside the Kentucky River and on a farm next to 2 big ponds.

I have had a horse get WNV and it was debilitating, though she recovered. I vaccinate annually now.

Mosquitos are prevalent in north Texas at certain times of the year. I vacinate semi-annually.

There is a lot of standing water adjacent to the barn and turnout -> alot of mosquitos

Mosquitos are ubiquitous, even in a drought, and potential infection consequences are too severe.

Initially yes, but it is endemic now and horses have developed antibodies for it

We live in Central Florida, lots of water & swamps. They get thiere regular shots, but you worry !!

Confirmed cases in my county. Large pop. of crows & other known wild bird carriers in my area.

I do not view it as a threat to my horse because I have her vaccinated for West NIle.
