Here, sidebone can be seen as the large, horn-shaped calcification beginning at the red arrow and extending upward.
Big sidebone
Sidebone can be seen between the two red arrows (same foot as at the one shown at left). The white arrow shows the swelling just above the coronary band that is present in some sidebone cases. Big sidebone 2

The collateral cartilages can be seen between the thumb and forefinger of the examiner's left hand. Palpation in this manner helps evaluate the pliability of the cartilages (they harden with sidebone).
