FLORIDA EQUINE VETERINARIANS PROMOTE EXCELLENCE AT THIRD ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM
More than 170 equine practitioners from Florida met Sept. 27-29 at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island, the Bahamas, for the third annual Florida Association of Equine Practitioners (FAEP) Promoting Excellence Symposium.
Veterinarians who attended presentations at the event came away with 18 credit hours of continuing education and new knowledge of current topics in equine reproduction and lameness. Many of the presenters encouraged dialogue during case study sessions, with speakers questioning attendees on what steps they would take to diagnose and manage horses.

JOCKEY SUSPENDED FIVE YEARS FOR POSSESSING HORSE STIMULATOR Jockey Roman Chapa recently began serving a five-year suspension issued by the New Mexico Racing Commission after he was found to be in possession of an electrical device. Chapa had appealed the ruling to district court, which on Sept. 11 upheld the commission, according to the organization's manager, Rosemary Leeder.
