A California rescue operator is facing multiple fraud charges for allegedly selling unborn Frisian foals, but never delivering the animals to buyers.

In a written statement, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said deputies began investigating complaints of fraud and theft involving the purchase of Frisian foals in utero from the Second Hand Souls Animal Rescue in the Good Hope area of Perris, California, in 2016.

According to the statement and Riverside County Superior Court documents, rescue owner and operator Susan Guillot collected between $5,000 and $6,000 from each of six alleged victims. She allegedly promised them a foal, but failed to deliver the foals to purchasers after weaning.

Acting on a warrant, investigators searched Guillot property in March 2017 and located evidence leading to two more victims of alleged theft
