Florida law enforcement authorities are hoping the public can help locate a pair of horses that went missing from their Miami-Dade County barn.

Laurie Waggoner, ranch manager for the South Florida Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said an owner called to report that her Paso Fino gelding and Quarter Horse mare were missing from their stalls at her ranch on May 11.

“The ranch is located down a rural road and there is not much traffic back there.” she said.

Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) Public Information Officer Detective Robin Pinkard said investigators the scene discovered a fence on the property had been cut.

“According to officers the subjects entered the property by jumping the fence,” Pinkard said. “The south fence was cut for the subjects to flee with the horses.”

The incident is the second such incident as many weeks, Waggoner said, as another Quarter Horse was stolen from Miami-Dade County last week.

Pinkard said the MDPD Agricultural Patrol is investigating the incidents.

Anyone with information about the alleged thefts should call Crime Stoppers at 305/471-TIPS (8477). All Crime Stoppers calls are confidential.
