Miniature Horse Nearly Decapitated in Florida

Florida law enforcement authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Miniature Horse discovered nearly decapitated in a rural area near Naples.

Records from the Collier County Sheriff’s Department indicate that on Dec. 29, 2016, deputies responded to a call about a dead Miniature Horse in the driveway of a vacant house. Upon investigation, deputies found that the animal’s throat had been cut. There were no other apparent injuries, and the death does not appear to be the result of an animal attack, the records said.

Because there was no blood at the scene, police believe that the horse had been killed elsewhere, the records said.

Investigators found that the horse was not microchipped has no unique markings that could lead authorities to its owner, the records said. No reports about a missing horse had been filed with the Sheriff’s office, records said
