Fire Destroys Georgia Equestrian Center

One horse is dead and 20 others are displaced after fire swept through a barn at an equestrian center in Villa Rica, Georgia.

According to a recorded message from operators of the Pure Horse Play Equestrian Center and Resort, fire swept through the barn at the farm on March 11, claiming one horse. The family's dog was also killed in the blaze, the message said. The remaining 20 horses were led to safety.

Carroll County Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Tad Richardson said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

“They're still out there sifting around,” Richardson said

The probe of the incident remains open, he said.
