TIP Announces 2015 Performance Awards Winners

The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP), which is designed to encourage the retraining of Thoroughbreds into other disciplines upon completion of careers in racing or breeding, announced the winners and other placings from its 2015 Performance Awards program on March 3.

The complete list of winners and participants is available online.

The performance awards recognize Thoroughbreds accumulating the most points at all horse shows in each of the 12 award categories and multiple divisions throughout the year. Winners will receive ribbons, prize money, and a variety of prizes, including coolers, saddle pads, leather halters, and lead shanks.

“The growth TIP has shown in the last four years confirms the dedication our owners and riders have about retired Thoroughbreds,” said Kristin Leshney, senior counsel for The Jockey Club and the TIP administrator.

State-bred or -residing performance awards were sponsored by the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society—Alberta Division, the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association, the Maryland Horse Breeders Association, the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association of New Jersey, the North Carolina Thoroughbred Association, the Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association, and the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association. In addition, the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) sponsored a performance award for horses adopted from TAA-accredited organizations.

Performance awards will be available once again in 2016 and will include shows from Dec. 1, 2015, through Nov. 30. The deadline for submission is Dec. 20.
