Owning a horse can is a costly endeavor. In addition to the initial cost of the horse, hay, feed, and health expenses, there are also endless amounts of supplies and tack purchases to be made.   Saddles, bridles, brushes, shampoos … the list goes on.

So where do you buy most of your tack and horse supplies? We posed this question to our readers in last week’s online poll. More than 650 people responded, and we’ve tallied the results!

Of the 692 respondents, 263 (38%) said they purchase most of their tack and horse supplies at their locally owned tack and farm supply store. Another 222 individuals (32%) buy their tack and supplies at specialty online tack stores, while 89 people (13%) said they use mail-order horse supply catalogs. Some 84 respondents (12%) purchase their tack and supplies from a regional or national tack or farm supply chain or warehouse store. The remaining 34 respondents (5%) indicated that they use general online stores, such as Amazon.com, for their horse tack and supply purchases.
