New Assistant Director of UC Davis Center for Equine Health

Claudia Sonder, DVM, has been named the new assistant director of the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), Center for Equine Health (CEH), according to a report in the center's publication The Horse Report.

Sonder, a practicing veterinarian for 15 years, will assist Director Gregory Ferraro, DVM, in "the oversight and daily management of the CEH facilities," the report relayed. She will also be charged with developing and implementing improvement to the center's contagious equine metritis testing program. The report indicates that Sonder is "particularly interested in lameness evaluation and the treatment of performance horses."

"Dr. Sonder will add her expertise and experience to the CEH's intramural grants selection process and will be working with the School of Veterinary Medicine's development team toward improving the CEH's endowment portfolio," the report said. "She will assist Dr. Ferraro in working with both industry representatives and veterinary faculty in finding solutions to equine health and welfare problems."
