Law enforcement authorities in Texas are investigating who is responsible for the care of nine horses discovered dead at a Parker County property last week.

Parker County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Deputy Danie Huffman said that on Aug. 12, Sheriff’s deputies and county animal control personnel discovered six mares, one gelding, and one filly dead on the property. No water, feed, or hay was found on the property, Huffman said. The official cause of the horses’ deaths remains under investigation
