Pfizer Guarantees Vaccines with Support Program

Pfizer Animal Health's Equine Immunization Support Guarantee is a program that provides up to $5,000 for reasonable diagnostic and treatment costs if a properly vaccinated horse contracts the corresponding equine disease. To be eligible for the program, vaccines must be obtained and vaccinations administered by a licensed veterinarian.

Veterinarians are an essential resource to help horse owners develop the most complete vaccination program based on geographic location, how often horses travel to shows or events, and other factors that affect disease risk. Disease protection backed by the Equine Immunization Support Guarantee includes infection from West Nile virus, equine influenza virus, tetanus, and Eastern, Western, and Venezuelan equine encephalitis viruses. Vaccines must be obtained and vaccinations performed by a licensed veterinarian with an established client-patient relationship.

"With the rise in cases of West Nile virus and Eastern equine encephalitis virus last year, it is critically important that horse owners consult with their veterinarians on a sound vaccination regimen based on the risks in their area," said Tom Lenz, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACT, senior director of equine veterinary services for Pfizer Animal Health.

"Properly administered vaccines help reduce the risk of infection, so we encourage horse owners to work with their veterinarian to formulate a complete vaccination program," said Stuart Meikle, marketing director for Pfizer Animal Health. "The Equine Immunization Support Guarantee program is an opportunity for horse owners to discuss their concerns with their veterinarian and ultimately help provide the best possible health care to their horses."
