Law enforcement authorities in North Dakota are seeking whoever is responsible for fatally shooting four Quarter Horses at a ranch in Griggs County last week.

Griggs County sheriff, Bob Hook, said the two pregnant mares and two yearling colts were discovered dead in a pen at Schmidt Performance Horses, a breeding and training center in Cooperstown on May 12. Each of the animals had sustained a small caliber gunshot wound.

"All the horses were shot at close range," Hook said.

The Sheriff’s Department is also currently investigating similar incidents involving cattle, Hook said
