WEG: Equine Veterinary Care Demonstrations

Attendees of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games are invited to experience the world of equine veterinary medicine at the Rood & Riddle Pavilion. The pavilion is located inside the Alltech Experience and is one of the highlights of the expansive exhibit and trade show area of the Games.

What you'll experience at the Rood & Riddle Pavilion
The pavilion will provide an educational experience for young and old with multiple interactive stations and video displays covering the latest veterinary technology, including diagnostic imaging, equine medicine and surgery and stem cell therapy.

Visitors will see and experience:

  • Touch screen controls to view horses on a treadmill followed by the endoscopic view of the throat.
  • Using an ultrasound probe on a phantom uterus to locate a pregnancy.
  • An actual surgery table and anesthesia machine set up complete with a 900-lb. model of an equine patient in position and ready for surgery. The Enduro NEST (NASA Equine Support Technology), an equine sling apparatus that uses patented NASA cable compliant joint technology to precisely lift and safely support any size horse needing assistance to stand. The NEST is useful for neurologic conditions that require the patient to be stabilized and supported.

The pavilion's left wing includes a theater section where daily lectures are being presented by Rood & Riddle veterinarians and other equine professionals, including Hall of Fame jockeys and World Games competitors.
