WEG: Pepsi to Be Official Beverage Supplier

Pepsi-Cola will be the official beverage supplier of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, according to the World Games 2010 Foundation.

As the official beverage supplier, Pepsi will help fuel thousands of volunteers with its products, and will also provide recycling centers on the grounds. Pepsi will be sold exclusively on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park during the games. The company has also pledged its support of the games through marketing efforts throughout the summer.

John Dougherty, vice president and general manager of the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Lexington, Va., pledged the resources of the local bottling team and marketing department in support of the prestigious WEG activities. "Our Pepsi brand groups and Lexington employees are looking forward to being part of this international event and will continue this partnership beyond the games with our new relationship with the Kentucky Horse Park," he said.

The 2010 Games will feature eight world championships in equestrian sports and are being held for the first time in the United States Sept. 25 through Oct. 10 at Lexington's Kentucky Horse Park.

"We are thrilled to announce Pepsi as a sponsor of the 2010 Games," said Terry Johnson, vice president of sales and marketing for the foundation. "As one of the world's most recognizable brands, Pepsi's involvement will be a great asset to the games."
