Purina Recalls Horse Feed Products

Feed manufacturer Purina Mills recalled two lots of its Strategy Professional Formula GX horse feed April 16 after metal fragments were discovered in certain 50-pound bags of the products.

The recall involves feed manufactured in the firm's Nashville, Tenn., facility March 24-25 and distributed to retailers in Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Indiana, Missouri, and Virginia.

Recalled products display lot numbers 0MAR24NST1A1 and 0MAR24NST2A1 on bag sewing strips.

Purina spokesperson Jeanne Forbis said the recall was issued after the company received five consumer complaints about the products.

"No animal health issues have been reported," she said.

Purchasers of recalled products should not store or feed them to their animals. Unused portions should be returned to dealers for replacement.

Consumers with questions about the recall should call 800-424-5234.
