Stephanie graduated cum laude from Averett College (now University) in Danville, Va., in May 1999, with degrees in Journalism and Equestrian studies. She joined The Horse in the summer of 1999, rising through the editorial ranks as Editorial Assistant, Staff Writer, News Editor, Copy/Features Editor and, most recently, Managing Editor-Print. She has earned numerous awards from American Horse Publications, including Best Feature Article for her coverage of the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Working in new media, Stephanie collaborated with University of Kentucky equine researchers to launch "Horse Courses," online video educational sessions based on diagnostic-research lectures presented 11 times a year.

"Kim and I have worked together for nearly 20 years," said Stacy V. Bearse, President/CEO of Blood-Horse Publications. "And, while I am sorry to see her move on, she has done an outstanding job of recruiting and training top-notch publishing professionals. Stephanie is one shining example. Stephanie joined our company as an Editorial Assistant and, over a 10-year career, steadily gained editorial knowledge and skills. Her depth of publishing experience and hands-on love of the horse will be major assets as she continues to expand the quality, reach and influence of our equine health media."
