Share Your Memories of Elmer Bandit

National competitive trail mileage record holder Elmer Bandit was euthanized Feb. 14 at the age of 38 in the pasture of his longtime boarding stable, surrounded by several friends and his lifelong owner, Mary Anna Wood.

Following his final competition in September 2009 Elmer's lifetime mileage stood at 20,780 miles. Elmer also won numerous National Championships over his 34-year career.

Through dedicated reporting by Marsha Hayes, Wood graciously allowed the readers of to follow along with Elmer’s competition and training schedule since spring of 2008.

Many readers have requested Wood’s contact information in order to express their condolences. We've set up a blog where readers can share their thoughts on Elmer. The messages will be passed along to Wood.
