Horse Rescued from Deep Snow

A 31-year-old horse is recovering after firefighters in Milford, Conn., used a boom truck to rescue him from deep snow Sunday morning, the New Haven Register reported.

The horse, named Konradin, was extricated after a two-hour ordeal. Firefighters massaged the sluggish animal and attempted to lift him using inflatable bags and a sling made of hoses. Firefighter Dave King used his personal vehicle, which is equipped with a small crane, to lift the horse back to his feet.

Horse owner Joan Rauch said Konradin will now be supervised whenever there's snow on the ground, as he's prone to slipping.

"He's doing great," Rauch told the paper. "That is thanks to all the Christmas angels that visited him. They are just the most amazing people who helped him."
