An arrest has been made in connection with the recent spate of horse killings in the Miami-Dade County area, multiple local media outlets report.

Police arrested Luis Miguel Cordero, 18, after his neighbor tipped them off that Cordero had contacted him offering $2,000 if he would help Cordero to kill two horses.

Police said they found a duffle bag containing garbage bags, rope, tools, and a butcher knife in Cordero's car.

Miami-Dade County Police are currently investigating 17 cases involving horses stolen and apparently butchered for their meat. Similar incidents are under investigation by police in nearby Miramar, where two horses were found butchered in their pasture, and in Miami Gardens, where a horse was found dead and mutilated in its paddock last week.

Police said Cordero confessed to the previous Miami Gardens horse killing.
