Standardbreds Find New Homes through Free Horse Listing

 Four Standardbreds listed on the's Adoption Service listing for horses free to good homes have already found new homes. The Standardbred list, modeled after an identical program for Thoroughbreds, was launched June 4. It is sponsored by the U.S. Trotting Association.

An additional 17 Standardbreds are currently listed as available.  

The Standardbred Adoption Service is an Internet-based bulletin board for registered Standardbred racehorses seeking new careers. The Standardbred Adoption Service is free to all who use it, both those offering a horse and those seeking a pleasure or companion horse.

The listings include athletic, versatile animals with many useful years ahead of them, as well as pasture pets or companion animals.

An additional 155 Thoroughbreds have been placed through since that list launched in November 2008. An additional 107 Thoroughbreds are currently offered for adoption.
