Maryland Offers Horse Owner Pasture Walks

The Maryland Department of Agriculture and the Equine Studies Program at the University of Maryland have partnered together to offer a Horse Pasture Walk on Thursday, June 18, 2009. The event will be held from 6-9:00 p.m. at the Equine Rotational Grazing Demonstration site located in Ellicott City, Md.

Participants will learn about best management practices that promote productive pastures while being environmentally friendly. Horse, forage and conservation experts will discuss management of horses on pasture, proper pasture care, and weed and toxic plant identification. Read more about pasture walks.

The horse pasture walk is supported by the Conservation Innovation Grant Program of the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service.

This event is open and free to the public, but registration is required to guarantee a copy of the educational materials. Deadline for registration is June 12, 2009.
