Thoroughbred Adoption List Nears 100 Mark

We're only seven horses away from hitting the milestone of 100 horses finding new homes through's Thoroughbred Adoption Service.

Launched in November 2008, 93 Thoroughbreds have found new homes through the listing service on, sponsored by Gainesway Farm.

From youngsters that never raced to recently retired track stars, and more than a few seasoned campaigners, there are Thoroughbreds of every type available on the list.

So who will be number 100?

Maybe Bobby D, a 5-year-old gelding who retired from the track sound and ready for a new career will be the 100th horse to find a new home. Or the petite chestnut filly, Flying Crackers. Or perhaps it will be Mikey, a former therapeutic riding horse who's still up for some gentle walk/trot lessons.

If you are looking for your next equine athlete, or if you have room at your farm and in your heart (and budget!) for another horse, please visit the Thoroughbred Adoption Service listing.

If you have a registered Thoroughbred that needs a home, you can add him to the list for free.
