Large Animal Rescue Training Offered at Days End Farm

Days End Farm Horse Rescue of Woodbine, Md., will offer Large Animal Rescue Training on two separate dates, March 22 and May 9.

Aimed at emergency responders, horse owners, barn managers, and the general public, each one-day session runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Training covers such topics as:

  • Emergency equipment;
  • Lift systems and techniques;
  • Management of rescue operations; and
  • Tips for dealing with mud, ice, entrapment, and other challenges.

Instruction and hands-on exercises will be led by Brooke Vrany, Days End's director of programs and emergency services. Vrany has eight years of experience in dealing with sick, injured, and downed horses. She is certified in large animal rescue, and has been instrumental in helping horses in a variety of situations, such as flooded farms, steep cliffs, and overturned trailers.
