FEI Launches Paralympic Equestrian Web Site

The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) earlier this week launched a new Web site to cover the 2008 Paralympic equestrian events in Hong Kong. The site can be accessed at fei.org/paralympics.

The new Web site will showcase all the latest news, results, overall medal count, weather patterns in Hong Kong, and photo galleries, as well as a look at past games, statistics, and reference documents.

Para-Equestrian and its involvement with the Paralympic Games began in 1996. Since then, the number of competitors, nations, and the standard of competition have increased at a phenomenal rate. This year, for the first time since equestrian events were included in the games, riders are allowed to bring and partner with their own horses. In previous years, the human athletes performed with horses provided by the host city.

The opening ceremony will take place Sept. 6. Visit the new Web site to learn more about the riders competing at these games, or have a look at the detailed schedule to find out when competitions will take place.
