Injured Racehorse Chelokee Discharged from Hospital

Chelokee, who sustained injuries during the Alysheba Stakes on the Kentucky Oaks Day undercard at Churchill Downs, has changed residencies from Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital to Tom Simon's Vinery, both near Lexington.

Because his injury was ligamentous in nature, the colt was kept at the hospital for a prolonged period of time. He went through several rehabilitation treatments during this time.

"The treatment for his right front fetlock dislocation has been completed, and he will begin the transition to paddock activity upon his arrival at Vinery," said Larry Bramlage, DVM, Dipl. ACVS, who worked with Chelokee during his time at Rood & Riddle.

According to Vinery's general manager Tom Ludt, Chelokee will be undergoing more rehab work while at the farm, which will serve as a transitional boarding facility while negations are being made for his breeding rights.

It has not yet been determined where the son of Cherokee Run will stand at stud.
