Large Animal Emergency Rescue Course Offered at KHP

Hagyard Equine Medical Institute will offer extensive three-day training courses in large animal emergency rescue techniques August 18-20, and August 22-24, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. This training is designed to educate first responders such as firefighters, police and other rescue personnel, veterinarians, and individual horse owners.

Drs. Rebecca and Tomas Gimenez will instruct and provide hands-on training of rescue and transport of a recumbent horse, containment of large animals, mud and water rescue, trailer accidents, and nighttime search and rescue. Limited space is available, and pre-registration is required. The course cost is $350 (includes lunch all three days). Veterinarians are approved for 22.5 hours of Continuing Education for this program.
