Event Horse Euthanized after Accident

Task Force, a 16-year-old Australian Thoroughbred who represented the United States in several international competitions, was euthanized Saturday after sustaining a catastrophic hind leg injury. According to a statement released by the United States Equestrian Federation, the injury occurred during the warm up at the Southern Pines II Horse Trials in Raeford, N.C.

Task Force was owned by J.C. Chester and ridden by Jan Byyny.
