'Winterizing Your Horse' Seminar at the Kentucky Horse Park

The Kentucky Horse Park will be hosting a winter horse care seminar this Saturday (Nov. 17).

Topics will include:

  • Where Did All the Feed Go? (9:00-9:45) Feeding Challenges, nutrition, alternative feeds, and working around hay shortages.
  • Ice Escapades (10:00-10:45) Grooming and Bathing for those winter events, whether it is a winter horse show, Christmas parade, or the family is coming for the holidays. How to get your horse looking good but still protected from the winter weather.
  • Winter Hoof Care (12:00-12:45) Learn how to keep your horse's hooves in good condition in the winter months. This session will cover shoeing options and how to work around ice and snow build up.
  • Closing for Winter (1:00-1:45) Here is your chance to learn about barn fire prevention and winter safety tips, including proper air circulation in the winter, storage areas in the barn, barn check list, evacuation plan, talking to your local fire department.

Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. The seminar costs $45 per person and check-in is at 8:30 a.m.
