A decision on whether Street Sense, winner of the Kentucky Derby, will compete in the June 9 Belmont Stakes will be made during a May 31 press conference at Churchill Downs.


According to Churchill officials, trainer Carl Nafzger will be on hand Thursday morning to provide the update and answer questions. Street Sense finished a close second to Curlin in the Preakness Stakes, and his status for the Belmont has been uncertain.


Street Sense, owned by James Tafel, was scheduled to work at Churchill the morning of May 30.


Curlin, who was third in the Derby, and Hard Spun, second in the Derby and third in the Preakness, already have committed to the Belmont
