A release from the Maryland Department of Agriculture at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, noted that, “As of today there are five new facilities of interest (for equine herpesvirus type 1), for a total of 13, under hold orders based on new information from the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center …  Samples were taken today from horses on those properties. Test results from the first batch taken earlier this week are still expected on Monday.”

The counties in Maryland with facilities under hold orders are Baltimore, Carroll, Charles, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, and St. Mary’s Counties, according to the release. It added that the risk level for neurologice equine herpesvirus in Maryland for the broad horse community remains low.
