Beijing Olympic Organizers Meet with FEI Board

The President and the executive board members of the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) commended the efforts and progress made by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of 29th Olympiad (BOCOG) and the Equestrian Committee in preparing for the upcoming games. Committee members visited the FEI in Lausanne Feb 7-9.

The FEI officials complimented the work done for the Events in Hong Kong and said they would assist in the organization of the Events, and would expect to have a long-term relationship with the delegation extending beyond the Events.

The delegation held a meeting to brief the FEI regarding progress in the preparation for 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events, including key functional areas such as quarantine, accommodation, security, and the preparatory work for the test event to be held in August this year.

The briefing was followed by discussion on the details of Memorandum of Understanding to be signed between BOCOG and FEI.

Dr Patrick Ho, Secretary for Home Affairs, thanked the FEI for its full support and valuable assistance, and invited the members of the Executive Board to come to Hong Kong and participate in the test event later this year, as well as, the Olympic Events in 2008.
