The American Youth Horse Council (AYHC) is seeking nominations for Youth Leader of the Year, sponsored by the Certified Horsemanship Association. AYHC wants to emphasize how strong adult leadership for young horsemen and horsewomen helps ensure a vital industry for the future. Any leader who volunteers time and effort to the youth horse industry should be recognized as a candidate for the award.

The annual award recognizes an adult offering outstanding leadership to young people within the horse industry and is presented at the National Youth Horse Leaders Symposium, which will be held March 9-11, 2007 in Denver, Colorado. The ideal candidate for AYHC Youth Leader of the Year introduces newcomers to the horse industry, mentors young horsemen, and promotes the horse industry within the local community and accomplishes these goals in fun, innovative ways. The selected outstanding leader will receive a trophy buckle sponsored by the Certified Horsemanship Association and crafted by Kathy’s Show Equipment, a beautiful framed print donated by Western Horseman, and other awards.

The awards committee will review and evaluate the nominations and present the findings to the AYHC board for final selection. The final selection will be based on the nominee’s accomplishments within the horse industry in general and the youth horse industry in particular. To receive an application contact AYHC at 719/594-9778 or info@ayhc.com.

Applications should be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from youth horsemen. Nominations will close on September 30, 2006
