Therapeutic Riding of Texas (TROT), a non-profit organization dedicated to serving Dallas-Fort Worth area special-needs riders has Session IV volunteer opportunities available. An orientation for volunteer will be held Thursday, Sep. 7, from 6-7p.m. The orientation is required for all new and returning volunteers. Session IV classes begin Oct. 2 and will meet Monday and Thursday from 6:30pm-7:30pm each week through November 16 at Gemini Farms located at 1701 Duncanville Road in Cedar Hill.

TROT has provided recreational riding with therapeutic benefits for children and adults for more than twenty years. Considered a more progressive form of therapy, therapeutic riding provides benefits like self-confidence, responsibility and teamwork in addition to increasing strength and balance.

Each year TROT offers sessions April through November to more than 45 riders ages 5 and older. Volunteers with many different backgrounds from Dallas, Ellis & Tarrant Counties participate in the program.

“TROT offers a great experience for both the riders and the volunteers,” said Patricia Hogue, vice president of the TROT board of directors. “As the mother of a TROT rider, I have first hand experience with the benefits and fun it provides the riders and I have also seen how much it means to our volunteers. Over the years I have heard numerous volunteers say how much they really look forward to coming out each week
