Equine veterinarians from around the country gathered during this first week of August at the Meadowlands Racetrack to participate in a wide range of educational seminars during the 2006 Hambletonian Festival of Racing, sponsored, in part, by Pfizer Animal Health. This was the Seventh Annual Continuing Education Seminar for Equine Veterinarians, and it was also the first time the Meadowlands Racetrack had offered veterinarians an opportunity for hands-on learning through a special “wet lab” program, held yesterday, August 3.


 


Wet labs allow veterinarians to do more than just hear about the latest advances in veterinary medicine; they offer the chance to practice these techniques with other professionals in a collaborative environment. One of the featured labs in this year’s program was designed to help equine veterinarians more effectively administer intra-articular injections to horses–an important pain management and joint healing tool for the performance horse
