LSU 2006 Stallion Service Auction Starts

Bidding for the 2006 multiple-breed, internet-based Stallion Service Auction to benefit the Louisiana State University Equine Health Studies Program begins today (Oct. 14).

Access the auction page through and click on the Stallion Service Auction site.

LSU is still accepting donations of breedings even as the auction gets underway.

The first round of bidding will close on Oct. 28, and the final round ends on Dec. 16.

Register for a bidding number on the web site for this year's auction.

Proceeds will go toward construction of the much-needed new state-of-the-art Equine Isolation Unit for hospitalizing critically ill horses with infectious/contagious disease. A portion of the funds will also go toward offsetting the costs associated with the rescue, treatment, shelter, feeding, and rehabilitation of the nearly 500 horses rescued from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
