"We believe it is vital for the Thoroughbred racing community to show its support for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and contributions from the Breeders' Cup Charity Gala is a great way for racing to take a leadership position in this national endeavor," said D.G. Van Clief Jr., President of Breeders' Cup Ltd. and Commissioner of the NTRA. "We look forward to a magnificent evening benefiting this immediate cause, and to also benefit our other important recipients, the Fund for Public Health in New York and the Grayson-Jockey Club Foundation."

The Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, the longest serving supporter of the Breeders' Cup Charity Gala, is a leading source of private funding for equine veterinary research and since 1983 has underwritten 200 projects at 32 universities for more than $12 million.
