“Identifying and Solving Semen Quality Problems in Stallions” is just one of the many talks to be given at Alltech’s 19th International Feed Industry Symposium in Lexington, Kentucky, May 11-14. This issue will be addressed in the Equine Symposium hosted for equine veterinarians, feed company nutritionists, horse farm managers and horse owners.

The ability of stallions to cover a full book of mares efficiently in a breeding season is critical to the success of many breeding farms. Fertility problems in stallions can lead to reduced income for the stud farm and set off a cycle of delay in mares and foals. Stallions with fertility problems may have to be bred three and four times to the same mare. In turn, if that mare gets in foal late in the breeding season, she will give birth later the following spring, resulting in a foal that is developmentally behind other horses of the same birth year. Thus, any method by which semen quality problems in stallions can be identified early and solved easily is worth discussing
